About
Hi, thank you for visiting my About page. My name is Jeanette Bolvary and I am not a molecular cell biologist, nor do I perform scientific experiments in my kitchen (although my husband and kids may disagree). I am a writer and am passionately interested in what Genetic Researchers are finding in, what I believe to be, the New Frontier.
Yes, space is awesome and we may have to dodge a comet tomorrow, in a few hundred years or perhaps a thousand, so don’t take your eye off the ball.
But right now Genetic Scientists are our modern day explorers; they even have their own language and are making up new words as they go. No really, think Christopher Columbus naming new places he discovers. Occasionally you may land on a shore and call the native people Indians, because you think you are somewhere else, but it’s still all pretty exciting and awe-inspiring.
Many studies in areas of serious illnesses like Cancer, Alzheimer, Diabetes, Menke disease etc. relate directly or indirectly to early development, but are not published under Pediatrics. For example, a study telling us that heating high fructose corn syrup changes it into a substance that damage DNA, is published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. This is information a pregnant woman should have.
A bit about me
Born in South Africa, I completed a business degree at the University of Pretoria in 1990 and migrated to Australia in 1995.
In 2004 I ended a career in International Trade to look after my newborn son, and 3 years later began the research that led to my book “Born Smart, Unlock the Potential in Your Baby’s Genes”.
The book explores the influence of maternal diet and behaviour on a baby’s Epigenome during pregnancy and after birth.
