Unlock The Potential In Your Baby's Genes

Mother's Milk Has A Clock In It?

clockIf you or your partner recently had a baby and are expressing milk, make sure you put a label on it with the exact time you expressed.  A new study published in Nutritional Neuroscience showed that breast milk before bedtime is not the same as that expressed in the morning.

Lead author Christina L Sanchez said “You wouldn’t give anyone a coffee at night, and the same is true of milk – it has day-specific ingredients that stimulate activity in the infant, and other night-time components that help the baby to rest”.

Researchers examined three nucleotides in breast milk that either excite or relax the central nervous system and found levels varied greatly in 24 hours, with the highest levels found at night during 8pm to 8am.

  1. Wow, that is really interesting. I knew it changed through the months, but I didn’t know through the day too.
